Graphic design studio based in Mexico City. Our work specializes in the design of books and printed matter for cultural and architectural projects.

María Marín de Buen (Mexico City, 1986) studied Graphic Design at Universidad Iberoamericana, graduating with honors and academic excellence. She later completed postgraduate studies at The Basel School of Design in Switzerland and The University of Illinois at Chicago in the United States. María began her professional career in 2010 at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, where her passion for the cultural field first developed. Since then, she has collaborated with diverse teams on projects for museums and both public and private cultural institutions across Mexico, Zurich, and New York. In 2020, she founded Estudio María Marín de Buen.

María’s practice is also deeply connected to teaching and design theory. Her master’s thesis was nominated for the Designpreis Halle design award in Germany in 2017. Together with a team of architects and farmers, Estudio María Marín de Buen represented Mexico at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in 2025. María has taught editorial design at Universidad Iberoamericana and conducted workshops at various institutions. She has also served as an advisor for the Applied Arts Selection Committee of the Secretaría de Cultura (Ministry of Culture) and sat on the jury for the Editorial Design category at the 2026 Latin American Design Awards. She received the FONCA–CONACYT scholarship for studies abroad, as well as the FONCA Jóvenes Creadores (Young Creators) grant on two occasions.

Her editorial work was featured in the exhibition Diseño en femenino at the Museo Franz Mayer (Mexico City, 2023) and Casa de México en España (Madrid, 2024), as well as in the exhibition Ellas diseñan 1965–2025 at the Museo Franz Mayer (Mexico City, 2025) and Casa de la Cultura Prof. Pedro Ángel Palou (Puebla, 2026).
