María Marín de Buen

(Mexico City, 1986)

She studied graphic design at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and holds an MFA in graphic gesign from The Basel School of Design and The University of Illinois at Chicago.

She began her professional career in 2010 at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. She worked at CoDe Communication and Design in Zurich and New York. She founded her own graphic design studio specializing in the design of books and printed matter for cultural and architectural projects.

She received the Young Creators grant from FONCA twice (2017 and 2019) in the editorial design category, allowing her to explore concepts like time and limits in relation to graphic and editorial expression. Her editorial work was showcased in the exhibition Diseño en femenino at the Museo Franz Mayer (Mexico City, 2023) and at the Casa de México in Spain (Madrid, 2024). María has also taught editorial design classes at the Universidad Iberoamericana.
